The Data Decoder

Client: BBC
Role: Art Direction, Design, Video Editing & Copywriting

The Data Decoder is an AI browser extension that reads through terms and condition forms to tell you exactly how your data will be used before you click “Accept.”

People are often left in the dark when it comes to how their data is acquired and what it's used for. So, the BBC as an organization dedicated to the freedom of information will illuminate this issue.

HOW IT WORKS

A personalized assistant armed with the truth, it’s designed to help readers not only understand the news but give them actions that engage people and allow them to become part of the change.

To get the word out, we’ll invite people to take part in our data security documentary.

When they agree to our terms (terms used by tech companies) they'll have given us countless bits of personal data.

On set, we’ll show them how easy it is for companies to access data the users didn't even know they were giving away.

And we will promote the Data Decoder on social media with footage from the documentary.
